What is The Pursuit?
It's a team race built around your trip - with a story to chase. Everyone plays together, split onto rival teams, and the place becomes the game board.
Destination challenges for groups who like to compete. Buy a ready-made storyline edition or commission your own place and theme; everyone gets sorted into teams, and the trip turns into a scored adventure - quests to complete, moments to predict, photos to earn points, and checkpoints that actually verify you were there. It ends at a leaderboard and an awards ceremony.
How it works
Pick an edition, make it yours, and your group plays.
Choose a ready-made storyline - Madeira, Kingston, Western, Skagway and more - or commission a custom place and theme of your own.
Run it yourself from the app and the printable pack, or have us host it live on your date. Choose your play modes - app or envelopes, phones-down, side quests, the Trade-Up.
Your group is split into teams and races the story - verifying checkpoints, predictions, photos - up a live leaderboard to an awards finish.
Anywhere your group lands
Choose how you play
Two ways to run it - live on the app, or phones-down on sealed envelopes - then layer on the rest. Mix and match to fit your group.
Phones on. Everyone plays from their own device - live leaderboard, photo gallery and predictions updating in real time. The pick wherever there's good signal.
Phones down - the only reason to pull one out is a photo. The whole game runs on sealed envelopes, each one a checkpoint, a mission or a secret role. No cell coverage needed, so it works anywhere. Presence over screens; born in Skagway. We love it, and we know it's not for every group - so it's yours to choose. (The app can ride along as a companion.)
Little dares, big swings. Optional bonus objectives layered over the race - a photo stunt, a hidden-location grab, a challenge only the bold attempt - worth real points for teams who want every edge. The difference between finishing and finishing unforgettable. Chase them, or play it straight.
Not everyone on your team is who they say. This optional twist slips one player a hidden agenda - an informant, a double agent, an order only they carry - and nobody knows who until the Tribunal. It turns a friendly race into a room full of delicious suspects. Trust no one.
Start with a trinket - talk your way to a legend. The optional barter game where charm is the only currency and a dollar is cheating: teams trade one small token up, stop by stop, into something nobody saw coming. The best haul and the best story both steal the show at the Tribunal.
No more "tap done." On the app, each stop is earned with the answer or code word you can only get on site, or a photo the host approves - before the next unlocks. (On envelopes it runs on the honour system, settled at the Tribunal.)
Every edition rides on a narrative built from the real place - the setting isn't a backdrop, it's the game. What the story actually turns out to be, your group finds out on the day.
What's inside
Destination challenges to complete as a team - the heart of the race.
Prove it with the answer or code you read on site, or a host-approved photo.
Scores update in real time so everyone sees exactly where their team stands.
An optional round some editions run - call the outcome before it happens and score for reading the room.
Optional dares and photo stunts with big point swings - chase them or leave them.
Optional hidden agendas - an informant, a double agent - unmasked at the Tribunal.
Optional barter game - turn a trinket into a legend on charm alone.
Checkpoint photos and videos - the trip's memories, all in one place.
The plan for the weekend, so nobody has to ask what's next.
The trip ends with a ceremony - winners, standouts, and a keepsake reel.
Who it's for
If people are together and up for something, it fits. A few of the shapes it takes most often:
Work trips, offsites and team-building days. Coworkers get split across teams, so people who barely know each other end up racing side by side.
Friends-and-family trips. Partners and households split onto different teams - no couple coasts through together.
Reunions, orientation, staff and alumni days - or any group that just wants a campus for a backdrop. You don't have to be a student: the grounds, the landmarks and the history are the game board, whoever's playing.
Where it's run
Each is a storyline edition you can buy and run - the narrative pulled from the real place. A few on the shelf now, with more in the works.
A grand Fairmont resort on the St. Lawrence, quietly turned into a game board - teams racing into corners of the property most guests never see.
Three ways to walk the oldest streets of Funchal - The Wine Run, Dead Reckoning and The Sack of 1566. Centuries of story, and a finish down on the water. How it lands, you'll have to be there to see.
A city of limestone, forts and locked gates - and a clock that doesn't stop. Some things you can only work out standing on the stone.
Teams head to head across the hill, through the landmarks and history of one of Canada's most storied campuses. You don't have to be a student - reunions, staff days, conferences and visiting groups all play.
An afternoon on the Okanagan waterfront that turns the city into a game board - and goes looking for something that may or may not be down there.
A downtown on foot where some of it is true and some almost certainly isn't - two rival cases through the Forest City.
The only walled city north of Mexico, on foot - the 1759 siege run as a race from the city gate to the river. Two more editions in the works.
Jean Lafitte's French Quarter, on foot - a smuggler's race for the pirate's lost share before the authorities close the streets. Two more editions in the works.
Gothic Savannah on foot - a cold case walked from a hanging square down to the river, sorting fact from legend from what the city chooses to remember. Two more editions in the works.
In 1871 the Kennebecasis took a world-champion rower during a rematch nobody forgot. Three editions walk the waterfront - the race, the river's broad history, and the old station's run of disasters.
A cruise-day takeover of the most notorious gold-rush town in Alaska - no cell coverage, which is exactly why the Envelope edition exists. A century-old mystery you can only crack in person.
Cottage weekend, city offsite, destination wedding, cruise stop - if people are going somewhere together, we can turn it into a Pursuit with its own storyline and the play mode that fits your group.

What's next
Québec City, New Orleans and Savannah just went live above. The genre rewards a compact, walkable historic core with a real story to dramatize and a strong tourism and conference draw - and these three are next on our scouting list.
A walkable peninsula of pastel rows and church steeples - pirates who blockaded the harbour, the first shot of the Civil War out at Fort Sumter, and a booming meetings-and-weddings draw. Savannah's natural twin.
A city where the walking route is already the game - two and a half miles of revolution, from Paul Revere's house to the site of the Tea Party. Dense, storied, and a top conference town.
A compact capital built around one walkable harbour - gold-rush gateway, oldest Chinatown in Canada, and the Fairmont Empress, mirroring our Charlevoix-Fairmont tie on the west coast.
