A 17Up 17Down Field Experience

CASE 27
THE TRACK

An escape room for a night. Outdoors, in the dark, with a real film ending.

Run the Investigation How it works
The case

Twenty-six cases closed.
The twenty-seventh never was.

Ranger June Calder was documenting a sighting cluster on the Lake Superior shore. Her truck was here. Her notebook was here. She was not. Tonight your group walks her last route, reads what she read, and tries to finish the case she could not. What you find depends on how closely you look, and how it ends is yours to discover. We are not going to tell you here.

How the night runs

Nine stations. One buried message.

01

Deploy

Teams get a field kit and split the route. No screens in hand. Just the forest and the evidence.

02

Collect

A footprint cast, hair on bark, a cairn, a knock in the dark. Each station hides one fragment of a coded line.

03

Decode

UV light reveals the order. No team holds the whole message, so the finale forces everyone together.

04

The ending

The last piece of evidence plays back, and the case closes in a way nobody sees coming. Then flashlights off, and thirty seconds of dark Lake Superior sky.

CASE 27 · EVIDENCE LOGField evidence
The evidence

Real field kit. Real dread.

This is not a monster hunt with rubber props. It is a wildlife investigation that happens to be tracking something that should not exist.

  • A cast footprint, measured and logged
  • Hair samples snagged on cedar bark
  • Stones stacked with intent, and marks that point the way
  • A ranger's field notebook that stops sounding like a scientist
CAM 27 trail camera feed
CAM 27

A camera is running out there.

A silent green trail-cam feed sits online, labelled only CAM 27, watching an empty clearing at the edge of the woods. No caption. No explanation. It just records, and catches nothing. What it is waiting for is the kind of thing you find out in the forest, not here.

The finale

It ends under the stars.

The case closes outside, under one of the darkest skies in Ontario. On a clear night, the Milky Way overhead. On a lucky one, the aurora off the lake. The kind of ending people remember for the rest of their lives.
